Palestine is ready to negotiate with Israel- Ambassador Abdullah

Hundreds were feared dead in attack on a hospital where people have been seeking refuge on Wednesday.

Abdullah Shawesh, the Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, has expressed his country’s willingness to engage in dialogue to resolve the longstanding crisis with Israel.

While addressing Journalists in Abuja, he emphasized that Palestine, under the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) negotiator Mahmoud Abbas since 1993, has been committed to the Oslo Accord.

Ambassador Abdullah also stated that Palestine was open to a two-state solution as a means to address the ongoing occupation by Israel.

He alleged that Israeli war aircraft was responsible for the bombing of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which had provided shelter to displaced families.

The hospital, being close to a church, was believed to be a safe haven and immune from military attacks according to international law.

The Ambassador claimed that the designated digital spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister, Hanania Naftali, initially admitted through a tweet that Israel had bombed the Baptist Hospital, but later deleted the tweet.

He criticized the West, particularly the United States, for allegedly providing unconditional support to the Israeli occupation and for failing to condemn the attack on the hospital.

Ambassador Abdullah also accused Western media outlets of allegedly disseminating false news to portray Palestinians in a negative light and to justify Israeli war crimes.

Ambassador Abdullah called on the international community to unite in support of international law.

Nigeria had earlier called for a ceasefire between the two warring countries.

The Israeli army had Launched airstrikes on Gaza Strip in response to Hamas rocket attacks from the Palestinian territory.
